Family at Jefferson Memorial

For Christmas, I went with my family to Washington DC. Since I just got my new camera, I wanted to go to the tourist spots to take photos. Unfortunately, it was raining that day, so I didn't have a chance to take any outdoor shots. This photo was taken inside the Jefferson Memorial.

My flash hasn't worked well lately, so I took this with no flash using my 50mm 1.8. I made sure to center everyone between the columns so I would have a nice, symmetrical look.

I guess I'll have to come back to DC when the weather gets better.

Betsy Ross Bridge

I was taking the NJ Transit train home to Cherry Hill on a Sunday morning. Usually, when the train goes on the bridge to cross the Delaware River, the view isn't all that great. But on this day, there was a bit of fog, and I thought it looked pretty ominous out there. This is what I saw when I looked out the train window, so I grabbed the camera while I still had the chance.

It was pretty difficult to get a good shot since the bridge's trusses would sometimes block the view. I had to be patient and have good timing, but I managed to get this photo.

Back From Live 8

This is one of my older photos, taken with the classic Canon D30. I was walking back from the Live 8 event in the summer of 2005 when this photo was taken. I had just crossed the Spring Garden bridge near the art museum and decided to take the camera out to see what I can get. Since it was already pretty dark at that time, I had to raise the ISO to 1600. Even so, the shutter speed I could use was still pretty slow, and thus all the motion blur. However, I liked the feel of the photo and way it captured movement.

Abigail and Mom

I went to see some relatives in Washington DC for Christmas. This was the first night with my new camera, so I was playing with it and the 50 mm lens. I was at my uncle's house when I took this photo of Abigail and her mom. The light was pretty low, so most of my shots were blurry, especially since Abby moved around a lot. Luckily, Abby slowed down for a little while so I could take this shot.

South Street Bridge Graffiti

I took a drive to the South Street bridge because I wanted to see the Philly skyline from a new angle. It was a fun shoot, especially with the sunset soon coming. As I was walking across the bridge, I noticed the graffiti on the bridge barriers and thought the colors were interesting, so I took this photo.

Longwood Gardens Orchids

I went with my parents during my Christmas break to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. It was pretty difficult to take photos since they wouldn't allow tripods in (for what reason, I have no idea). So when I got into the orchids section of the garden, every shot had to be taken by hand, which meant I had to use a high ISO of 800. Even at that ISO, I still had to shoot at a relatively slow shutter speed. Luckily, my hands weren't too shaky, and I was able to get this shot.
